Nausea~

We had rat dissection today as a part of our Biology Practical. Everyone was very happy and excited about it. People were spotted polishing their dissection tools a week before.

XD

Basically these are what they require us for doing the dissection.

Dissection kit, Surgical gloves and mask.

Aaaaaand the rats!

White mice preserved in formalin. And mind you, it stinks! With the 3ply mask, I can still smell the stinking retching rats soaked in the formalin.

Sincerely I think that they have been preserved for decades. They looked horribly like those mice I have seen since the start of the year in the lab.

Firstly we were to let the dead rat lie on the board and pin it, then dissect it dorsal ventrally. Everyone is using a great deal of energy to open up the rats' for limbs because the formalin stiffened the whole thing. I practically just banged the rat on the table and pried it open with my bare hands after a few attempts to open it up with my forceps failed.

And suddenly 'CRACK'. I broke an arm.

It looked like that when we are about to examine the thorax. Yvonne accidentally cut through the heart and blood splattered out. Bloody hell! =D

Yvonne, me and Michelle.

Moving to the abdomen, this was what I got.

Hey, my dissection is one of the best in the class, because my cuts were all clean and direct.

Then for 'extra knowledge' purposes, they urged me to dissect the genitals. Yvonne's and Boon Fei's idea.

These are a pair of testicles. They are from the rat I was dissecting. Eww~~ Yvonne was so excited and keep telling everybody to press them.

Speaking about scientists.

After that, we discarded the dead with dignity. 32 mice sacrificing their souls to the enrichment of the scientific world, boardening the minds of yet another batch of Biology students, who were still naive and curious.

Light Cheesecake

On the way back home from breakfast, mum stopped by the local bakery supplies stores and we bought the usual bread making stuff(we have a bread-maker at home). But today we laden our baskets with cheese cake ingredients.

I was so excited! It had already been ages since I baked something.

Mum and I got busy in the kitchen. We took out all those baking tools from the cupboard. The baking pan is full of cockroach shit because it was already a very long time since we took it out.

The ingredients. Cheese cake mix in a packet(so convenient), eggs, sugar, milk, cream of tartar, butter and stabiliser.

According to the recipe, we have to separate the white and the yolk to whisk them in different parts.

Separating the yolk and the white...

The yolks and the whites successfully separated!!

Melting the butter...

The yucky icky stabiliser being weighed.

Part A mixed together...The butter was all over the place, due to the pathetic size of the bowl.

Part B: Intially

Part B: On the process

Part B: Finished!!

Mixing Part A and B together.

Pouring into cake moulds....80% till completion.

Now, put them into the oven for baking...Mmmmmm...the overpowering smell....

One hour later.

Cecilia (Part One)

She walked along the cold corridors, passing by dusty portraits of dead ancestors, her hair prickling in the vast darkness. The floorboard creaked as she strode by. Three doors away, a silhouette appeared in the dark.

"This way, Mistress," the figure uttered under his rough, musky breath.

She obeyed, following the short, hunched man. They strode pass dirty chandeliers, torn flowery wallpapers until the hunched man stop abruptly in front of a door. With a stern glance at her, he unlocked the door, took several steps behind and vanished into the darkness.

A slow voice called: " Here, my child."

She walked into the room and knelt upon an old woman who was sitting on an armchair. Her creased hands caressed her young, pale face, the old woman weeping tears of joy, speechless for the moment.

She calmly lifted the pair of hands away, and unblinking, she stabbed the old woman with a fork she had been holding since the start of the visit.

The old woman screamed in agony, as blood splattered across the pale peach curtains.

Nearby, a flock of birds took journey to the north. Winter was near.
