Tour de Palace of Justice

The last time I stepped foot to Putrajaya was during last three years' National Day Celebration. But today, we followed the 6th form council's organised school trip to this federal territory, its transformation towards a smart governmental management centre, undeniably cool.

Our destination was the Palace of Justice. As we sixth formers learn about our country's law and order in Pengajian Am, this place is the best option the school can offer. Previously they used to bring us to the Parliament which is only steps away from school. But this year, things got a little different.

The Palace of Justice: The symbol of justice of Malaysia.

Not wasting the moment, we camwhored as usual. =)

Each of us stood on each pole bearing state flags. I got Kelantan. Kok Weng got Terengganu, therefore he can drive a Mercedes instead of a Perdana. LOL

The place is really grand. Imagine the megabucks they collected from tax payments to build the place. The architecture is Islamic-Arabic, with dome like structures and archways shaped like mosques. :0 The pillars, archways and floors were made of marble.

Marble world.....0_o

The Islamic influenced ceiling.

Archways: fully lit.

While we were happily taking pictures then we only found out that we were not supposed to do so. in fact, if you are 21 and above, then you only have the rights to enter the Palace of Justice.

Ok, keep away the camera. uh-huh....

After a briefing held in the conference room (conference room for judges..imagine us sitting on places the judges are sitting..XD), we went to the library. Since no photos were allowed, so I did not took any. But there are a great deal of law books and some are really old. Zi Qin was searching for some particullar law to sue teachers. LOL. Michelle and I found one in the defamation column. =)

Then, we visited the museum.

I only knew what is a mace then. It represents the authority and prestige of the court. No court can assemble without the mace in present.

The wig everbody's been asking about since the start of the trip.

And the best part was, we got to witness a real court case. It's really unlike those we see on TV. The defendant and the plaintiff took turns to talk politely and there were a great deal of notes shuffling. And there were 5 judges. Even though everyone is Malaysians they still used English as a medium. I thought they were damn particular about this language thing. The case they were appealing is a drug trafficking case. It was really interesting. Everyone was so keen to listen and pay attention. We even went around asking the lawyers about terms we did not understand during the 30-minute break.

Again, no photos allowed.

In the end, everybody learnt a great deal of things and we are clear about our country's justice system.

A trip worth going!!
PS: It's only RM5.

Class Photo

This is it!! Class photo of 6AA and 6AB.

Another shoot.

It's quite difficult to take a perfect class picture. Because everybody seems keen in going home and I have to shout and shout to get everybody together.

And special thanks to Boon Fei the useless monitor, for letting me shout like a madman, eventhough I am not a part of the class committee.

Enthusiastic people like me is hard to find. LOL (syok sendiri-ing)

Try spotting me!

Once upon a time...

There was a famous Pan Mee restaurant in Jalan Raja Laut which is just a stone's throw away from school.

This particular place is located in an isolated lorong in the center of KL city. The first sight of the place, you wouldn't know that they serve the most excellent noodles in KL. The place in kind of like a rundown with 80s architecture shoplots, with unkempt walkways and litter all around.

But, in fact, it was so famous that the place would be bloody crowded with hungry customers during lunch hours and weekends.

And in there, there will be unspoken rules to follow, and you may have to share tables with other customers due to the fact that they do not really have sufficient seats to accommodate the rowdy crowd.

And everyone will order the famous Spicy Pan Mee.

A bowl of home made noodles with anchovies, diced pork, onion and half boiled egg. Then you have to mix everything together until every proportion is even. The half boiled has to be smashed because the liquid yolk is supposed to be mixed together with the noodles to enhance its flavor.

And the bast part is.....

The chili. The key ingredient in making this dish so unique to its own kind.
A small plastic container containing this particular blend of chili will be placed on each table. And you can add as much as your tongue can hold it.

We used to take turns to sniff at the container before the food arrives. And man, I guarantee, it makes your mouth WATER...

Hungry?

Minutes to Midnight

Dear members,

I may not be the perfect leader to you, and some of you may even dislike me and my style of getting things done. but you have to understand that the decisions I make is for the benefit of all. At times it may not favour any party, and even sometimes I have to sacrifice things I hold precious of.

Most of the time I am strict and harsh, and I may be offensive. I may say things that hurt your feelings, and you may grade me as inconsiderate and not understanding. I could have been pushy and pressuring most of the time and not knowing it. But I am in a very difficult situation all the time. I have to make choices and make wise decisions without troubling you guys so much.

As a president I serve as an intermediate between you and the teacher advisor. I have to constantly update her and tell her my decisions, let her evaluate situations. And guys, these are time-consuming. I also have to be pressured by her dissatisfactions and demands. So, I have no choice but to keep pushing you guys. Sometimes, you guys are uncooperative. I have to bring you all together. I have to make sure things run smoothly. I am a very direct person. I speak things as it is. If I am unhappy, I am unhappy. And vice versa, if I am satisfied in your performance, then you are really great.

I am very pressured about this Singing Competition. Thank God everything ends today. After this, everyone can focus on your studies and care about your futures. If I had in any way offended you(which is obviously yes), I apologise.

Anyway, guys, I love you all soooooooo much. Thanks for being by my side, supporting me all the time. Whether friend or not, you have served the Chinese Society your best.

Thank you!!! All my wonderful committee members. Without you guys, this event will never run so smoothly.

Thanks all members. I really appreciated your help and cooperation.

XOXO,
Hui Ting

Under My Skin

Seriously, I think I am going nuts. On this humid night, when everyone are dozing their heads off in a fully air-cond room, I am forced to stick my butt on a chair, and bury my head in a pile of Biology books.

So, I told myself, never mind. My mission today, is to finish cellular respiration. And after that, I can just close my eyes and dream about paradise.

The first part was the aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration crap that I had learnt during SPM. So 5 minutes, that part, done. The next thing was bedazzling. It was glycolysis. (OK, I never paid attention during class.) I have no idea what it was. It's something like a flow chart with a lot of branches.

See I am so hardworking, I did my own notes.

Glycolysis is the process of converting glucose to pyruvic acid. And pyruvic acid will be further decarboxylased and oxidised to form ATP, NADH, FADH2, and carbon dioxide. And ATP will go to the electron transport system and it will produce water and oxygen as end products.

My own notes for Kreb's cycle. The cycle which involves the conversion of Pyruvic acid(3 Carbon compound)to Citric Acid(6C), then isocitric acid(6C) and then further oxidative decarboxylation to alpha-ketoglutaric acid(5C), succinic acid(4C), Fumaric Acid(4C), Malic Acid(4C), Oxaloacetic Acid(4C) as a complete cycle, catalysed by lots of enzymes such as pyruvate dehydrogenase, isocitrase dehydrogenase, fumarase...etc etc...

Thanks to Mr. Krebs.

He got a Nobel Prize for discovering this mechanism.

Next is the electron transport system.
The diagram from my textbook. This, I have not read yet because all those circles and cycles are driving me up the wall.

So, in the end, what we get is energy, CO2 and water. I remember Michelle flinging her hands:"That's it? After one month of boring classes, what we got is just 3 end products?"

Haha...See, God create wonders. Every cell in our body has mitochondria(plural of mitochondrion), which means we have zillions of mitochondria performing the same job everyday. Every cell in our body requires energy. Brain cells need energy for us to think. Muscle cells need them for locomotion. Nerve cells need energy for generating impulses. If any cell in our body refuses to undergo cellular respiration, our entire body will shut down, hence, we get sick, or worse, paralysed.

One cell to build a tissue. One tissue to build an organ. One organ to maintain a system. One system to sustain an organism.

Isn't life amazing?

Guilt and Greatness

Everyone dreads results day. And for the ever first time in my life, I was so worried about it to the extend I had nightmares about people getting raped and robbed. Scary huh... I knew I had not prepared well and I had not performed well enough.

It was: Shocking, Upsetting, Confusing, Killing, Extra-ordinarily Devastating.
In short, it SUCKED.

To worsen things, sis got the first in her class.

Mum talked about it for about two weeks.

So I was forced to swallow the news and kept quiet for another few days. And finally, I could not stand it. The emotional stress was so pushing, so on one fine day, I rehearsed for a few minutes, took a long breath, and called mum.

Me : I have something to tell.
Mum: What?
Me : Well...
Mum: Later, I am driving.
(phone slams)

So, imagine it when she came home and I talked about it. Imagine people yelling, doors slamming, swearing.......

Honestly, I was so guilty, I cannot even sleep well.

So, I had to put up with military style studying. Honestly, it was so difficult. I am about to give up several times, but I just knew I can't. It's already July. About 3 months for me to catch up with things I had lost. I had to sacrifice lots of things, including things I enjoy and normally do.

I have to do well in STPM. I have to get good grades, get into university, secure a seat in a better course to enable a better future.

A glimpse of my military training base. A mass of papers, notes, diagrams, charts, stationery... My effort is going to determine my destiny.

YEAH! HUITING, MAN, YOU CAN DO IT!!

My all time favorite motivator lay supportively on the chair.
